Message from the Vicar

June 24

4th Sunday after Penticost

Today’s reading is from St. Luke 10: 1-16

“Jesus sends out the seventy-two others as His messengers and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go

Selection of seventy messengers and sents them two by two to the villages before Him reminds us about the seventy advisors of Moses in the Old Testaments

He told them “The Harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers in to his harvest.

Go I am sending you out like lambs among wolves . Heal the sick; the Kingdom of God is near you.

Jesus gives strict instruction to What to speak and what to do to these messengers whom he sent

A perfect teaching by a Perfect Teacher

He sends us also to this world with these great instructions

Let us also pray to Lord to reveal us about what to speak, what to do, what to think at the hour of need as we are His messages.

June 10th (2nd Sunday after the Pentecost)

Reading: Gospel of St. Mathew 10: 5-16

Other readingsOld Testament Leb: 19:1-8; Sam II – 5:1-10; Act 4:21-31; Eph: 2:11-22

Introduction Jesus called his 12 disciples together and gave them authority to drive out the evil spirits and heal every disease and every sickness Then He sent them with special instructions

Where to go: Do not go to any Gentile territory or any Samaritan townGo to the lost sheep of the people of Israel What to say:Preach “The Kingdom of the heaven is near”

What to do:Heal the sickBring the dead back to lifeHeal the dreaded skin-diseasesDrive out demons

How to do: You have received without paying so give without being paid. (Remember, what we have is given by Him only)Do not carry any gold, silver or copper money in your pockets
Do not carry a beggar’s bag for the journey or an extra shirt or shoes or stick because a worker should be given what he needsWhen you enter into a house, give the peace of Heaven in God’s nameIf they are worthy enough to receive the peace, it will remain in that house, otherwise, it will come back to youIf some house or town will not welcome you, shake the dust of you feet, God will show more peace to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah than the people of that town

All these teachings done by Jesus Christ to his disciples about 2000 yrs ago are still more practical advises, one can practice in his lifeClear instructions to his disciples by the Great Master.

1. Not to gentiles but to the lost seeps of Israel, why?
To preach the good news of the Jesus to the world is an integral part of every Christian but we have to start this mission from our home, community and then to others Before sending his disciples to this mission, Jesus had clear vision about his destiny. Same way in all our journeys, we should also develop to hear the voice of the Master,  and to be clear in our vision towards the destination.

Let our parents should have a clear vision on their Children

Lets our Schools should have a clear vision about tomorrows

Let our Nations should have a clear vision about the new generations

Let’s try to follow the great instructions of the Great Master.
